Amy is the Executive Director for the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS). Amy has many responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Promoting worldwide awareness of TFOS
Fundraising and sponsorship strategies
Directing the development & oversight of TFOS meetings, events, etc.
Managing & overseeing all marketing, branding & promotional activity
Coordinating and supervising the work of TFOS Consultants
Communicating with the TFOS Corporate Advisory Board
Before co-launching TFOS (a.k.a. the family business), Amy worked in the PR industry focusing on strategic branding, e-commerce and media relations. She provided counsel for Blue Chip & dot.com clients seeking to build and maintain visibility among the domestic and international market analysts and business and trade press communities. Amy worked with Manning Selvage & Lee and Brodeur Worldwide, managing accounts in EMEA, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.
Amy began her business career in international branding with Fidelity Investments, where she developed public relations strategies for Fidelity Investments Institutional Services Company (FIIS) both for the US and South America. She held both Series 6 & 63 Certifications. Prior to Fidelity, Amy apprenticed as a speechwriter in the office of the Honorable Senator John F. Kerry.
Amy speaks multiple languages including English, French, Italian, Spanish, basic Portuguese and is now studying Japanese. Currently in Boston, she has lived in France, Italy, Spain and Argentina as well as traveled extensively throughout the world. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Boston University in Mass Communication and Public Relations. Amy is also a Startup advisor, author and co-Founder of the Italian-International Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums.
RN, Operations Manager
Rose Sullivan, RN, Operations Manager for TFOS, brings a breadth of knowledge to the Society from both the medical and administrative perspective. Originally trained as a critical care nurse, responsible for the coronary care unit, Rose has exhibited her leadership and organizational skills in several key medical centers including Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, MA; University of Minnesota Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN; and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Hanover, NH.
Following more than a decade in nursing, Rose re-angled her intensive care specialty and re-focused on a different side of customer service, residential real estate. During her years in real estate, Rose was elected President of the Massachusetts Chapter of Certified Residential Specialists. Managing her client base provided a vehicle for business and financial prowess.
Reminiscent of her days in the ICU, Rose returned to nursing as clinical program manager at the Schepens Eye Research Institute. In this role, she worked with David Sullivan, managing patient recruitment, organizing and collecting clinical data, regulatory control issues, etc.
When the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society was created, Rose volunteered to wear both of her hats, the medical and administrative, offering the Society her clinical and entrepreneurial background. Rose's responsibilities include TFOS' daily banking, payroll, human resources issues and insurances as well as helping to facilitate all things TFOS.

Global Director of the TFOS Ambassador Program
Dominica is Global Director of the TFOS Ambassador Program. Dominica is responsible for recruiting TFOS Ambassadors from more than 200 countries and dependent territories. While promoting the TFOS brand throughout the world,Dominica will communicate with each Ambassador about scientific and clinical advances, the unmet needs, and local meetings of interest of the specific country/territory, as well as help Ambassadors coordinate, fundraise for, and organize regional symposia and/or conferences.
Having lived and worked in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas, Dominica offers a wide breadth of experience inglobal business development, partnerships, e-commerce, marketing and communications. Before joining TFOS in 2016, she worked for an investment group in Shanghai, China where she was a senior advisor on a portfolio of socially responsible investments, in addition to co-launching travel & wellness e-commerce startups for the group.
Prior to moving to China in February 2008, she spent five years working in private sector development throughout Africa. Before moving to Africa she was a Vice-President at Developing World Markets, an asset manager that structures socially responsible investments, notably, micro-finance.Dominica began her career at Deutsche Bank in New York in Latin American Sales and Trading, later shifting to marketing.
Currently based in Paris, France, Dominica is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Polish, as well as taxi Mandarin. She earned her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Pennsylvania and her Masters in international Affairs/Business from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts), and is currently working towards certification in Digital Marketing through Duke University.
Solange Kahn Smith
Human Resources & Accounting Specialist
Bringing more than a decade of experience as human resources counsel for Fidelity Investments and Citizens Bank, Solange Voss is Human Resources & Accounting Specialist for TFOS. Cross training is a necessary and important attribute of Solange's position with TFOS, and the need for accuracy and attention to detail is imperative. Discipline is expected to achieve these overarching goals. She works closely with all members of Senior Management and the Board, supporting a variety of accounting activities primarily focused on those related to monthly financial record keeping and reporting. Additionally, health and life balance encouraged her to specialize in therapeutic yoga. Solange’s 20-year-yoga training keeps TFOS balanced, financially and visually. She also leads Hatha, Astanga, and Iyengar yoga sessions at Harvard Business School and works with semi-pro athletes such as the Elite Scullers at CRI Brighton.
A graduate of Clark University, Solange majored in Medieval Literature, Shakespere and Chaucer in the Middle English.
Anna E. Byrne, Esq.
Eckert Byrne LLC
Anna is an attorney with over twenty years of experience in the areas of estate planning and tax. She is the founder of the law firm, Eckert Byrne LLC, located in Cambridge Massachusetts. Anna has been a member of the Massachusetts and New York bars since 1994. In October 2014, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly selected her as a Top Woman of the Law.
She began her career in tax at the Massachusetts Department of Revenue and Internal Revenue Service. Anna then worked at a large regional financial planning firm advising entrepreneurs and business owners in creating tax efficient stock option and investment strategies and advanced estate planning solutions, including the creation of private foundations. Subsequently, she was involved as a principal at an early stage venture capital firm and served as corporate counsel to a business incubator. In 2001 she founded a registered investment advisor company that provided comprehensive tax, financial and investment planning to individuals.
Anna holds a bachelors degree with a major in economics and minors in French and German from New York University and a law degree from the New England School of Law. She frequently offers seminars to non-profits, businesses, and individual groups on various subjects. She has served on numerous non-profit boards of directors. Anna is fluent in Polish and resides in Cambridge with her husband and son.
Haydée has 15+ years of experience in graphic design, branding and advertising. Prior to moving back to her homeland of Brazil, she did Branding Consulting in New York at Enterprise IG, The Brewery Design, and Siegel+Gale; in web at StarMedia and LuxuryFinder.com; and advertising & direct marketing at Ogilvy&Mather Direct and Young&Rubicam. She has been a TFOS consultant for 10 years.
Haydée has a portfolio of clients, from multinational companies, to small and mid-size businesses such as medical practices, societies, museums, universities and not-for-profit entities in the United States, Europe and Latin America. Her clients include Busch Gardens, Holcim, Yahoo!, FirstCaribbean International Bank (Barclays), Pratt Institute, Conexão Direitos Humanos (Human Rights Connection), Clínica Dermatológica Dra. Suleima Arruda (Dermatology Clinic), among others.
A graduate of Boston University, Haydée has a degree in Mass Communications & Public Relations as well as a masters degree in Communication and Packaging Design from Pratt Institute in New York. She was awarded the Excellence Award for Outstanding Merit in Graduate Communication and Packaging Design from Pratt Institute.

Sabrina has 15+ years of experience in communication and launched her Creative Web and New Media agency CITYnet in 2000.
CITYnet offers a competitive range of multimedia and editorial services from the creation of websites and web events, to the design of personalized soundtracks that accompany virtual visits. CITYnet also develops customized applications for databases, iPhone and iPad, e-commerce and other advanced functions. In addition, services today include graphic design, editorial design and production, packaging and branding. Clients include the Vatican Museums, the Italian Nautical Association, the Italian Osteointegration Society, Elsevier Science and Health Publishing, Hassler Hotels and Resorts, the Italian Air Force, Barzanò & Zanardo Patents and Trademarks International Group, the Tear Film & Ocular Society and many others. Julie Ann Karimi
JAKA Congressi specializes in events management, particularly medical & scientific conferences. Clients include Alcon, Allergan, Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer & SIFI.
With more than a decade of experience working with the Chinese public sector, Guoxing Yao leverages his knowledge and technical expertise while he gathers and analyzes market intelligence for TFOS. Guoxing is helping TFOS further understand industry and economic movements and developments in Asia.
Before joining TFOS in 2016, Guoxing was an administrative Director for the Bureau of Traffic Engineering Quality Supervision in Hubei Province, China, responsible for human resource management. His contributions were instrumental in earning an outstanding department award for his group.
Guoxing began his career at the Chinese Academy of Personnel Science, a group that is affiliated with the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Security, where he researched policy programs and was a key speechwriter for high-ranking government officers.
In his free time, Guoxing is a runner and swimmer. He’s placed in several marathons, as well as swum 6 kilometers across the hostile Yangtze River.
Currently based in Boston, Guoxing is fluent in Mandarin and English. He earned his Bachelor's Degree of Management Science at the Renmin University of China.
