George Kontadakis
George Kontadakis is a Postdoctoral Academic Fellow (Adjunct Lecturer) at the University of Crete, Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Kontadakis graduated from the Medical school of the University of Athens and completed his residency training in the “Opthalmiatreio” Eye Hospital of Athens, Greece. He studied the MSc course “Optics and Vision” of the University of Crete and served as a Clinical and Research Fellow at the Institute of Vision and Optics and the Ophthalmology Department of the University of Crete under the supervision of Professor Ioannis Pallikaris while working also on his PhD thesis. He had served as a research scholar at the Cornea Service of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Laboratory at McKnight Vision Research Center in the University of Miami, United States. Dr Kontadakis has published more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals with numerous citations, and also co-authored book chapters. He has delivered numerous talks and presented posters in international meetings. Dr. Kontadakis has received several awards and recognitions, such as the Residence Excellence Award from ASCRS, a TFOS Travel Grant, the “Spiros Georgaras” Scholarship from the Hellenic Society of Intraocular Implants and Refractive Surgery, the “Manassaki” Scholarship from the University of Crete, the “Vardinoyiannis” Scholarship.
