Karim Mohamed Noriega
Karim Mohamed-Noriega has been a full professor since 2009 at the Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), Department of Ophthalmology, in Monterrey, Mexico. He is the academic coordinator of the ophthalmology postgraduate program, is recognized as level 1 in the national system of researchers, and has published more than 19 indexed papers, 11 book chapters, 66 free research poster or oral congress presentations and 48 invited presentation or lectures. Dr. Mohamed has directed or co-directed more than 32 postgraduate theses. He completed his medical degree, specialty in Ophthalmology and Doctorate in Medicine at Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) in the Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital. Dr. Mohamed completed the clinical and international research fellowship in cornea and corneal transplantation at Singapore National Eye Center (SNEC) and Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI). He is member of several scientific associations including the Mexican Association of Ophthalmology (SMO), Mexican Center of Cornea and Refractive Surgery (CMC-CR), Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO), Pan-American Association of Cornea (PanCornea), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and Tearfilm & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS). Dr. Mohamed’s main interests include corneal transplantation (lamellar and full-thickness), dry eye, ocular surface, keratoconus, corneal cross-linking, cornea and external diseases, cataract surgery and refractive surgery.
